6,120

People gained access to clean and safe water

From this grant, minimum 6120 people have access to clean and safe water at their home thanks to the endless efforts of CSOs that took part in WaterAid’s training programme.

In villages near the sea where fresh ground water is difficult to find, CSOs have built large water storage tanks to catch rainwater instead.

In upland areas, water pipelines have been constructed to link homes to water sources, and in the Dry Zone, where locals have been suffering water storage issues for many years, CSOs have provided the technical expertise and funding to deep tube wells.

1,820

People gained access to decent toilets

1820 people received support to build descent toilet and appropriate awareness. CSOs are hard at work to eliminate open defecation by 2030, as targeted under SDG 6, and have been providing the necessary materials to families so they can build their own toilet inside the home. Access to a toilet not only improves health outcomes, but is also important for ensuring dignity and safety, particularly for women and adolescent girls.

885

People received hygiene awareness trainings and facilities

CSOs have not only been delivering WASH infrastructure to communities but have also been conducting activities so that participants have the knowledge to stay healthy. They have held education sessions, carried out campaigns and conducted demonstrations to improve awareness of WASH issues.
